HOLUALOA, KONA REGION OF THE BIG ISLAND
NOTES: LEMON VERBANA, POMELO, HONEYSUCKLE & CACAO NIBS
If you know us, you know that we love getting our hands on unique coffee varietal grown locally here on our Hawaiian islands. Only a handful of farmers grow the red bourbon varietal so we are honored to be able to source with Franck Carisey from Uluwehi Coffee Farm in Holualoa. With a rich sweetness & bright pomelo-like acidity, this coffee is a great brew that bridges a modern and traditional style roast.

About Franck Carisey & Uluwehi Farm
Situated at an elevation of 1900ft along the beautiful, fertile slopes of Hualalai, Uluwehi Farm is a 5 acre farm owned by Franck and Nathalie Carisey. Uluwehi farm is mostly focused on the production and processing of the Red Bourbon and SL34 varietal which are both known for their complex flavor and rich sweetness.
Franck and Nathalie grew up in the heart of rural France, where rolling fields and family-run farms shaped their childhoods and instilled in them a deep appreciation for fresh, vibrant produce. Over the past 25 years, their careers have whisked them around the globe—from bustling cities in North America and Europe to serene corners of Asia and Africa—offering adventure, perspective, and unforgettable experiences. Despite that, their love of the land never left them and they knew that one day they wanted to own a farm somewhere in the world. It was in 2014, while on a long-awaited vacation to Kona, that everything fell into place. Surrounded by the island’s dramatic landscapes, gentle trade winds, and endless ocean views, they knew in an instant: this was not just a place to visit—it was their paradise, and the perfect place to bring their farm to life.
They started their farms in 2018 and they have grown to become experienced farmers producing some of the best coffee in the Kona region. In 2022, Franck’s SL34 placed 2nd in the KCF Classic Division and 5th overall at the annual Hawaii Coffee Association statewide cupping competition. In 2023, Franck’s SL34 placed 8th placed in the KCF Classic Division and 1st in 2024 KCF Creative Division. This is our 3rd year sourcing from Uluwehi Farm and we hope to continue to cultivate a great roaster/farmer relationship with one of Holualoa’s best farm.
