About Kraig Lee & the Geisha Varietal
For more than 26 years, Kraig and Leslie Lee have been growing, processing and roasting fine Kona coffee on the slope of Mt. Hualalai. Today, their 4.7-acre farm is home to an amazing lineup of rare coffee varietals, including Laurina Pointu, SL34, Geisha, and their famous Mokka which took 1st place at 2022 Kona Coffee Fest Classic Division.
Although he’s a licensed agricultural real estate agent, Kraig’s main passion is producing amazing Kona coffee. His knowledge in coffee is apparent and he currently mill and processes coffee for multiple farmers based here in Kona. During harvest seasons, we’ve heard that he pulped and processed thousands of pound of local farmers in a day…. which is absolutely mind-bobbling.
Known as “The All-Star” in the specialty coffee world and the “Coffee Aficionado’s Obsession”, the Geisha is one of the most sought after coffee varietal on the planet. The name Geisha is derived from the Gori Gesha Forest in Ethiopia where it was first discovered. Since then, coffee roasters and professionals have all been on the hunt for Geishas to brew the ultimate, life-changing cup of coffee. Many farmers in Kona have started planting the Geisha varietal due to its complex taste profile and also, its consistent track record of taken top placings in competition. We will have to say that Kraig’s Geisha is one of the favorite that we’ve come across. The wet champagne yeast fermentation really elevate the complexity you find in the cup…. perfumed with delicate floral notes all while being fruity, and sparkling with bright acidity. This is such a great brew and we hope that you all will enjoy it as much as we do.
